Job Description:

The Head of Regulatory Compliance Korea is accountable for ensuring that HSBC’s operations in Korea are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating Regulatory Compliance risks. The role involves leading the Regulatory Compliance team, overseeing advisory services, managing relationships with regulators, and fostering a strong compliance culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensuring that HSBC’s operations in Korea are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating Regulatory Compliance risks
  • Leads and directs the stewardship of the Regulatory Compliance sub-function in Korea
  • Oversees the provision of advisory services to Korea
  • Strengthens the Global Businesses’ knowledge of Risk and Compliance management
  • Oversees the management of the relationship with relevant regulators in Korea
  • Develops, monitors, and communicates Regulatory Compliance strategy and policies throughout Korea
  • Responsible for second line governance of Regulatory Compliance risk exposures
  • Assists the senior management of Korea on all relevant material Regulatory Compliance related matters
  • Supports in setting key functional targets
  • Leads the Regulatory Compliance team
  • Fosters a strong risk and control and compliance culture
  • Acts in accordance with HSBC’s purpose and values
  • Champions a culture that prioritises the fair treatment of all customers
  • Works with and supports LoB risk stewards

Requirements:

  • Significant compliance experience as a regulator or a senior compliance manager within a global firm, in the financial services industry
  • Successful track record in strategic leadership and influencing is essential
  • Significant knowledge of a compliance risk framework and experience in its execution
  • A background or deep understanding of operational risk is also highly desirable
  • Track record of resilience and confident challenge when dealing with senior stakeholders
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators
  • Experience of creating, leading and motivating a team
  • Experience of working within a matrixed environment preferred
  • Significant leadership experience and an experienced strategic thinker
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions
  • Ability to lead change, coordinating with other teams locally & regionally
  • Ability to interpret and analyse a large volume of information and / or data
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting demands and problem solve in a dynamic environment
