Job Description:

We are seeking a confident, commercially focused and strategic Head of Professional Indemnity & Financial Lines – Legal Services, to join a leading commercial company during a period of continued growth and expansion. This is a high-profile opportunity to establish, lead and scale a specialist practice area, taking full ownership of its strategy, client proposition and commercial performance, within the security of a large established commercial business. Operating at Executive Leadership Team (ELT) level, you will act as a senior representative of the Firm, working both autonomously and collaboratively across the wider Group. You will play a central role in shaping the future direction of the Professional Indemnity & Financial Lines offering, delivering a market-leading service underpinned by innovation, quality and strong client relationships. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capability, a growth mindset and a passion for building high-performing teams. You will be instrumental in driving business development, enhancing market presence and ensuring that the practice aligns with the Company’s core values.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Professional Indemnity & Financial Lines practice as a strategic growth area
  • Sit on the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to Firm-wide decision making and strategy
  • Undertake high-value fee earning work, ensuring profitability and excellence in client service
  • Provide specialist legal advice across Professional Indemnity & Financial Lines matters
  • Build, lead and inspire a high-performing team within the practice
  • Drive business development initiatives to establish the Firm as a leading legal advisor in this sector
  • Actively promote the Firm and Group’s services and reputation in the marketplace
  • Manage financial aspects of client files, ensuring efficiency and profitability
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration across departments and within the wider Group

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a senior legal professional in Professional Indemnity, Financial Lines, or closely related practice areas
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to manage profitability and growth
  • Excellent business development and client relationship skills
  • High level of technical expertise and credibility within the market
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations
  • Demonstrable ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on with complex client work
