Job Description:

Head of Product (Motor Direct). This is a rare opportunity to take centre stage in defining the next chapter of Direct Line’s retail strategy. As Head of Motor Direct, you’ll be a key force within our Direct‑to‑Consumer leadership team—driving a bold transformation to revitalise and accelerate the performance of Direct Line’s core ‘direct’ business. You’ll lead the commercial and customer agenda for our Motor Direct portfolio across the Direct Line, Churchill and Privilege brands. From full P&L ownership and day‑to‑day trading optimisation to setting long‑term strategic direction and reimagining our proposition, this is a role with real scope, influence, and impact.

Job Responsibility:

  • Set the strategy and plans for the Motor Direct business that align and support delivery of the overall Retail strategy
  • Accountable for the overall commercial performance and P&L of your area
  • Continuously prioritise plans and activity for the area, ensuring required resource in place to maximise value
  • Lead trading performance of the area, identify and delivering actions to ensure performance in line with plans and taking corrective action where required
  • Work with colleagues from across the business to deliver plans – including Chief Underwriting Office, Data & Analytics, Operations, Claims and CIO
  • Embed a culture of customer centricity across the area
  • Use both internal and external data and insight to inform decision making
  • Ensure a strong control framework in place across the value stream, in line with the Enterprise-wide Risk Management Strategy and Framework
  • Build and develop a highly skilled and motivated team across the value stream

Requirements:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate this into a clear strategy and product roadmap
  • Highly numerate, with strong commercial acumen
  • 5 years+ experience of leading a commercial area, including P&L management is desirable
  • Demonstrative experience in innovating and continuously improving products and services for commercial and customer benefit
  • Strong stakeholder management skills – able to encourage cross-discipline collaboration in order to achieve business goals and overcome organisational challenges
  • Comfortable operating at Executive Committee (ExCo) and ExCo-1 level
