Job Description:

The Company: A UK Infrastructure provider covering a variety of projects, with technology from copper, fibre and wireless technology. They deliver once, future-proofed ultrafast Gigabit-capable full fibre broadband, giving buildings and homes the fastest available broadband. They have secured investment to deliver Fibre Only, Wholesale Only, Gigabit Broadband to more than 500,000 premises by 2025. The Role: Reporting directly to the COO, you will be responsible for all aspects of Planning and GIS activity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the success and growth of the business.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and guide a team of operatives in delivering the network planning activities and GIS requirements across multiple sites
  • Accountable for end to end high-level network design
  • Perform QA and sign off across team planning activities
  • Work alongside Head of Wayleave and Regional Build Managers, ensuring effective and efficient planning and delivery
  • Optimising traditional design with PIA opportunities including use of Poles
  • Develop and manage reporting funnel with the COO for business-wide and board reporting

Requirements:

  • Be a proficient user of GIS tools, specifically QGIS and PostgreSQL / PostGIS
  • Direct experience and knowledge on PON planning in underground and overhead delivery
  • Significant experience and knowledge of Openreach PIA process
  • Hands-on fibre planning experience for a minimum of 2+ years
  • Automating planning workloads with database side functions
  • CDM experience (essential)
  • PIA experience (essential)

Nice to have:

Python programming skill (desirable)

  • Maintain stakeholder relationships: Keep landowners informed throughout all project phases, addressing any questions or concerns they may have
  • Due diligence: Conduct due diligence on land acquisition for potential projects, including preparing cost calculations for land agreements
  • Produce documentation: Collaborate with GIS Engineers to produce maps and ensure required documentation is updated and stored in data rooms
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other project team members and the land management team while maintaining an independent work style
  • Provide assistance to the Head of Development Manager in the management in due diligence process for acquisition of new projects regarding real estate topic
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of new business opportunities in the renewable energy sector
