Job Description

Numida is entering a phase where how we scale matters as much as how fast we scale. We are hiring a Head of People & Culture to design the organisation we need next — not just manage the one we have today. This role is about designing clear structures, roles, and accountability in our operations and across our company, enabling leaders to implement scalable people systems that support growth across countries and products. You will be a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, and a hands-on builder of people foundations.

Job Responsibility

  • Organisational Design & Operating Model
  • Design and continuously evolve Numida’s org structure to support ambitious and fast growth, product expansion, and geographic scale
  • Define roles, spans of control, decision rights, and accountability across teams
  • Lead workforce planning in partnership with Finance and functional leaders
  • Support reorganisations and change management with clarity and care
  • Culture & Change
  • Translate Numida’s values into observable leadership behaviors and role model our way of working and expectations for leaders
  • Act as a steward of culture during growth, reorganisation, and change
  • Maintain employee engagement and trust through transparency and fairness
  • Leadership Enablement & Manager Effectiveness
  • Build and roll out a practical manager framework (expectations, rhythms, feedback, performance)
  • Coach senior leaders and people managers
  • Design leadership development interventions that are lightweight but effective
  • Performance, Talent & Succession
  • Design performance management systems that reinforce accountability and outcomes
  • Build clear career paths and progression frameworks that retain high performers and provide visibility of growth paths across the organization
  • Lead succession planning for critical roles
  • Ensure underperformance is addressed early and fairly
  • Scalable People Foundations
  • Build simple, robust HR systems, policies, and processes that scale across countries
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and governance requirements across our geographies
  • Establish reliable people data and dashboards to support decision-making and insights that build trust in the people function
  • Partner with Finance on headcount planning, compensation frameworks, and cost discipline to remove operational frictions

Requirements

  • 8+ years in leadership roles in scaling organizations
  • People / HR leadership is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in org design, leadership development, and systems building
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels
  • Strong business acumen
  • able to connect people's decisions to financial and operational outcomes
  • Can thoughtfully apply AI to people systems, manager enablement, and decision-making to support scale and efficiency
  • Deep understanding of East African labor contexts is a strong advantage
  • Self-confidence, integrity, high energy, empathy, and a sense of humor to navigate diverse cultural contexts

What we offer

  • A competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience
  • Have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and diverse team based in Kampala, Nairobi, Kigali, and Johannesburg
  • Employee share options are also available for this position, giving you ownership in Numida’s overall success
