Job Description:

At Harvey, we’re transforming how legal and professional services operate — not incrementally, but end-to-end. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come. This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. With 1000+ customers in 58+ countries, strong product-market fit, and world-class investor support, we’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched. Our team is sharp, motivated, and deeply committed to the mission. We move fast, operate with intensity, and take real ownership of the problems we tackle — from early thinking to long-term outcomes. We stay close to our customers — from leadership to engineers — and work together to solve real problems with urgency and care. If you thrive in ambiguity, push for excellence, and want to help shape the future of work alongside others who raise the bar, we invite you to build with us. At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and evolve the motion language for Harvey across brand, marketing, and product
  • Partner with the Creative Director to translate brand direction into motion principles, guidelines, and systems
  • Personally execute high-impact motion work where quality and nuance matter
  • Establish scalable motion patterns and libraries that support consistency and speed
  • Ensure motion feels cohesive across campaigns, product UI, video, and social
  • Translate ideas, scripts, and product concepts into clear visual narratives through storyboards, animatics, and motion tests
  • Own pre-visualization for video projects, aligning stakeholders on pacing, structure, transitions, and emotional beats before production
  • Shape stories in close partnership with Brand, Content, and Product teams
  • Use storyboards and animatics to guide agencies, editors, and production partners
  • Own the creative direction for video across brand campaigns, product launches, customer stories, and thought leadership
  • Set the visual and narrative standard for live-action, hybrid, and editorial video
  • Lead creative direction through pre-production, on set, and post-production, while partnering with producers who own logistics and execution
  • Select, brief, and manage external agencies, directors, editors, and creative contractors
  • Ensure all video work reflects Harvey’s tone, audience expectations, and brand standards
  • Lead motion and video for product storytelling, including demos, explainers, and technical narratives
  • Collaborate closely with Product Design and Engineering to ensure motion translates cleanly into product experiences
  • Raise the bar for how complex ideas are explained through motion and video
  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of motion designers and video creatives
  • Set clear expectations around quality, ownership, and collaboration
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and career development support
  • Balance hands-on craft with leadership and delegation as the team scales
  • Act as the creative authority for motion and video across the company
  • Partner closely with Brand Design, Marketing, Product Design, Content, and Leadership
  • Give and receive clear, thoughtful feedback to maintain a high creative bar
  • Help evaluate when work should be executed in-house versus through external partners

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in motion design and video, with a strong emphasis on brand and product storytelling
  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional taste, restraint, and craft across motion systems, video, and narrative work, including storyboards or animatics
  • Deep hands-on expertise in motion design and video editing tools such as After Effects and Premiere
  • Proven experience creatively directing professional video productions
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary motion and video teams, including senior individual contributors
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate creative intent to diverse stakeholders
  • Comfort operating at both a strategic and executional level
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with ambiguity and high expectations

Nice to have:

  • Experience leading motion or video at a high-growth startup
  • Experience building or evolving motion systems within a brand or product design system
  • Familiarity with UI motion and product animation principles
  • Experience partnering with top-tier creative agencies and production studios
