Part of the Organisational Effectiveness Directorate, the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning is a strategic and transformative role at Migrant Help. You will contribute to Migrant Help by driving our monitoring, evaluation and learning agenda and helping to build an outcome driven culture across the organisation. You will effectively lead the refinement and delivery of our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) strategy, build and institutionalise MEL systems and processes across the teams and improve internal MEL capabilities. Driving a culture of delivering, capturing, and communicating impact is at the core of the Migrant Help’s 5 year strategy This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for impact, a vision for being outcomes driven, strong technical skills in MEL, a love of data, systems and processes, and who enjoys working both independently and across teams to enable an organisational shift in how we do MEL.
Job Responsibility:
Review and develop/create a robust methodology, approach and framework to MEL across all key activities within Migrant Help
Leading the delivery of our MEL strategy and driving a culture of outcomes and learning across the organisation
Use our approach to MEL as a mechanism for a step change across the organisation in how our impact is positioned and assessed
Establish a robust, proactive internal stakeholder engagement approach to embed MEL at the heart of a range of activities
Inspire, promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the importance of MEL
Report, analyse and audit performance of our approaches to MEL for the senior leadership team, board of trustees, external partners and interested bodies
Develop and curate a narrative that positions our MEL approaches and frameworks internally and externally
Develop approaches to the development of a MEL framework for bids and tenders to demonstrate impact
Create, monitor and evaluate existing approaches within contracts for services and coordinating with colleagues to collate information to report internally and externally
Develop and revise theories of change and results frameworks for all programmes
Share learning and insights from data across the wider organisation with senior management and trustees to help make strategic decisions
Support our communications team with producing high quality reports and writing copy on the impact of our work
Support with the design of new programmes and developing bid applications in line with our strategy
In conjunction with the analytics team develop data collection tools, oversee data collection processes and control for quality
Embed data collection processes within programme delivery, supporting better practice in monitoring and reporting
Implement adaptive management mechanisms to ensure feedback from our partners lead to the ongoing improvement of our programmes
Set up and coordinate an organisational MEL working group to drive the strategy internally and work collaboratively across the teams
Coordinating MEL resources for the organisation, building capabilities and enabling alignment across the whole organisation
Requirements:
Demonstrable experience in roles focused on designing and delivering monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks and approaches in large complex organisations
Demonstrable experience of contributing to bid writing and funding applications from an MEL perspective
Technical skills and extensive experience developing Theories of Change, designing evaluation methodologies and quantitative and qualitative data analysis
Advanced computer literacy and experience of using survey design software and CRM systems
Ability to establish and leverage effective networks both internally and externally
An engaging leader with strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders
