To join our team in August 2026, we are looking for a well-qualified and talented Head of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) to lead and teach in our MFL department.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high-quality instruction in Spanish and French
Deliver engaging and effective instruction aligned with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and other international curricula
Plan and execute dynamic lessons that cater to diverse learning needs, incorporating modern teaching strategies and technology
Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, ensuring high academic standards
Provide pastoral support, promoting student well-being and collaborating with the school’s well-being team
Encourage student involvement in extra-curricular activities, cultural events, and language-related projects
Contribute to curriculum development and school improvement initiatives
Maintain a positive departmental and classroom environment with high standards of behaviour and discipline
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support professional development goals
Engage parents and stakeholders through regular communication about student progress
Stay current with educational advancements and participate in ongoing professional development
Requirements:
A relevant degree in Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) or related field, plus a valid teaching qualification
Experience teaching Spanish and French at the secondary level, ideally with knowledge of IB curriculum (IBDP) or other international programmes
Experience in a leadership or departmental management role is highly desirable
Ability to inspire and engage students, fostering a love for languages and culture
Strong skills in differentiating instruction for diverse learners
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
Experience using technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning
Commitment to continuous professional development
A strong understanding of safeguarding and student welfare practices
Nice to have:
Experience in a leadership or departmental management role is highly desirable
