Job Description

Elementa Support Services is seeking a proactive and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages to join a dedicated school in Weston-Super-Mare. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate leader with a strong background in French and Spanish to shape and develop a vibrant language department. Our client values committed educators who can provide strategic leadership and inspire their team of teachers and students. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in language education, with leadership experience as a Deputy Head of Department or Head of Department, along with excellent organisational and administrative skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the MFL department across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Oversee curriculum planning and development for French and Spanish, ensuring alignment with school goals and national standards
  • Provide strong leadership and support to language teachers, fostering continuous improvement and professional development
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing strategies to maximise achievement
  • Maintain efficient administrative processes within the department to support smooth operation

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher with QTS/QTLS status
  • Substantial experience teaching French and Spanish at secondary level
  • Leadership experience within a school language department, ideally as Deputy or Head of Department
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to manage curriculum and assessment effectively
  • Inspirational leader with the ability to motivate and develop a team of language teachers
