Job Description

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Head of MIS to lead and develop our Management Information Systems function. This key role will ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant management of learner data and funding submissions, supporting the organisation to maximise performance and deliver against contractual and regulatory requirements. You will lead a busy and dynamic team, driving continuous improvement across systems and processes, and working collaboratively with colleagues to support high-quality provision, strong audit outcomes, and an excellent learner experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the production and submission of compliant ILRs monthly to maximise funding claims
  • Manage day-to-day operational responsibilities of the MIS team for all operational areas, including processing start and leaver paperwork
  • Provide first-line support to MIS Managers to enable them to fulfil their roles and responsibilities
  • Implement systems and processes to increase productivity and efficiency within the department
  • Monitor performance against specific KPIs such as achievement targets and attendance data
  • Lead bursary and support funding processes, ensuring timely, valid funding claims and payments to students
  • Lead the learner registration and invoicing process
  • Work closely with the Reporting and Systems Manager to improve system use and report production
  • Liaise with curriculum staff to efficiently and accurately plan the delivery across multiple sites, ensuring compliant timetabling and registers are produced
  • Ensure full data match between government portals (SLC, Apprenticeship Service) and MIS system, ensuring accurate financial claims and reporting
  • Liaise with the Audit Team to identify training needs and implement training within the team
  • Support in the implementation and use of ProMonitor
  • Work closely with the Bid Team to support and report on the bid process, including responses to ad hoc data requests
  • Prioritise team activities and workload, ensuring maximum utilisation of time and benefit in order that key objectives and targets are achieved
  • Be the primary point of contact in relation to profiling activity for contracts
  • Maintain expert knowledge regarding the use and storage of learner and ILR data, particularly in relation to the Learner Management System, ESFA funding system
  • Operate a cycle of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing efficiencies that improve business workflow in an effective way
  • Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours

Requirements

  • Experience of working within an MIS department in a Further Education setting
  • Educated to Level 5 or willing to work toward
  • Experience of MIS System (Prosolution preferred though not essential)
  • Thorough understanding of DfE funding rules
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of audit compliance and requirements
