Job Description

As the Head of Merchant Operations (m/w/d) for Germany, you will be the strategic lead responsible for the success, growth, and performance of our entire national merchant portfolio. Based in our Berlin office, you will sit at the center of the German marketplace, obsessing over the merchant lifecycle—from onboarding and catalog quality to retention and compliance. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a blend of operational excellence, commercial strategy, and people management. You will partner directly with the General Manager to define the national roadmap, build a high-performing team of "rockstars," and ensure our systems scale as rapidly as our business.

Job Responsibility

  • Obsess about improving the experience of our Merchants. Design and scale our processes across the entire Merchant lifecycle
  • Own and drive strategy and scaled levers for our Merchant growth offerings, including catalogue & photography, advertisements, and merchant offers campaigns
  • Track the performance of the merchant portfolio, prevent merchant churn, and ensure merchant compliance
  • Build, train, and motivate a team of high-performers, empowering them to deliver towards our ambitious growth goals
  • Work closely with the General Manager to set the strategic direction and define the long-term roadmap for Merchant Operations in Germany
  • Chase operational efficiencies and build foundations that scale with our rapid business growth
  • Coordinate a variety of initiatives and projects across Sales, Account Management, Support, Procurement, Product, and other key internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or equivalent
  • 7+ years of relevant experience within a similar position in a competitive e-commerce environment (Scale-ups/Start-ups)
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in managing and developing a team
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of planning and tracking progress using OKRs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • demonstrated ability to influence and gain consensus with senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and high proficiency in Excel
  • Fluency in German and English

Nice to have

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience using Python to build automation and small applications
  • Experience owning budgets and managing a P&L
