This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join an outstanding and ambitious founding team at King's College School, The Bahamas. The school continues to grow following its opening in August 2022. It is the only school in the region that is part of a leading global group of premium schools. The King's group offers over 50 years of academic excellence combined with proven best practices from Inspired Schools across six continents. For this 2025/26 academic year, the school welcomed over 330 students from Pre-Reception to Year 10. An additional year group will be added every year until Year 13. The school is housed in a newly built 10-acre campus of architectural significance. It offers the highest quality educational facilities, ensuring that students benefit from a learning environment designed for how students learn in the modern day. Facilities include light and airy classrooms, state-of-the-art science labs, a multipurpose hall, a 25-meter swimming pool, football pitches, tennis courts, padel courts, dance, drama, and art studios, an adventure park playground, and plenty of green spaces and shaded areas for students to enjoy. As well as this, our premium beach front boarding house has just opened its doors to students. We now seek an exceptional Head of Maths with a passion for education, dedication, creativity, and outstanding experience from the best schools worldwide to join the team from August 2026.

Job Responsibility:

  • Creating Engaging Lessons: Plan and deliver lessons that inspire and challenge all students and are in line with the school's curriculum, policies, and external assessment requirements. You will individualise and differentiate learning, ensuring each student is stretched, supported, and makes outstanding progress
  • Supporting and Assessing Progress: Regularly assess students' in-class and at-home learning, providing targeted feedback to drive progress and ensure all students are challenged and supported in reaching their potential
  • Building a Positive Learning Environment: Establish a classroom and school environment where students are invested in each other's flourishing, feel valued and supported, and are ready to take risks in their learning
  • Collaborating and Sharing Best Practices: Work closely with colleagues as an active member of our learning community, sharing best practices, collaborating with colleagues, and dedicating yourself to your own professional development to ensure the highest standard of education for our students
  • Contributing to School Life: Play an active role in the school's co-curricular programme, helping to create a well-rounded, enriching educational experience. From leading clubs to contributing to whole school initiatives, you will help shape the broader life of the school
  • Collaborating with Parents: Maintain open and constructive communication with parents, building strong partnerships that support students' progress so that each child feels like an individual, well-known and respected

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for education, with the ability to engage, motivate, and positively impact young people
  • A proven track record of excellence in personal, academic, and professional achievements
  • In-depth expertise in and passion for their subject and the ability to inspire students and support outstanding progress
  • Expertise in assessing student progress, providing targeted feedback, and enhancing student performance, including in external assessments
  • Experience in providing pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a strong focus on individual attention and high standards of welfare
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively with colleagues and independently and a track record of establishing strong, positive relationships with families
  • A commitment to their own continuous professional development
  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage a department, ensuring excellence in teaching and student outcomes
  • Experience in curriculum development and department planning, with a track record of innovation and successful implementation
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan and prioritise a varied workload, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of post-graduate study
  • Experience of boarding is a plus
  • The ability to teach from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, across IGCSEs and A-Level, with experience in IB an advantage
