Job Description:

Head of Leveraged Finance and Corporate Developed Markets Underwriting (LFCDM) manages a global team of corporate underwriters (~375 team members), covering large and complex Corporates and Financial Sponsor relationships within North America, Western Europe and UK, being responsible for all underwriting activities, in partnership with Citi Banking, Capital Markets and Risk.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the Leveraged Underwriting team, overseeing credit execution for Sponsor-backed, Leveraged Acquisition Finance, Asset Backed Finance, highly leveraged Corporates, and Pre-IPO transactions
  • Manage the Corporate Developed Markets Underwriting Team, overseeing credit execution for Citi's Corporate clients within NAM, Western Europe and UK
  • Ensure consistent adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring
  • Provide senior credit guidance and process direction to front line Business Coverage, Capital Markets and Risk partners
  • Ensure proper management of team resources and serve as a key point of contact for the team for escalations/guidance
  • Review and approval of Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages as both a senior Business and Leveraged Lending Credit Approver
  • Partner with front office on structuring and production of term sheet for new transactions
  • Facilitate relationships with key clients in Banking, Markets, and Risk and with key regulators, internal audit, and control functions
  • Support the Head of ICM on strategic initiatives/projects as required

Requirements:

  • 20+ years of experience
  • 10+ years' managerial experience
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with regulators and internal control functions
  • Demonstrates strong ethics and integrity
  • Ability to see the 'big picture' in a complex environment
  • Can make decisions under pressure and short timeline
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Bachelor's/University degree
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Senior credit approval authority covering large and complex underwritings
  • Demonstrated expertise in and exposure to global credit risk management standards
  • Ability to understand capital markets products and complex financing structures
  • Ability to provide strategic insights and strong sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues
  • Proven ability to understand nuances of local markets and regulation
  • Navigates organizational complexity and breaks silos
  • Creates and sustains a network of strong partnerships
  • Proven experience of managing large team
  • Proven track record of partnering with global peers
  • Proven ability to execute on strategic projects and initiatives
