Job Description

The Head of Legal & Compliance will be the regional legal expert, trusted advisor to the business, and the key liaison with regulators and external counsel across LATAM markets. This strategic role will ensure our operations remain aligned with local regulatory frameworks, emerging legislation, and our global standards for responsible, compliant, and ethical wagering. The role will lead all legal, regulatory, licensing, and compliance activities across the Latin American region for our global wagering business!

Job Responsibility

  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on all regional legal matters, including regulatory, commercial, licensing, corporate, and employment-related issues
  • Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiations of a wide range of commercial agreements (supplier, media, affiliate, technology, data, sponsorship, etc.)
  • Oversee legal risk management and drive processes that support safe, sustainable growth in regulated and newly regulating LATAM markets
  • Monitor legislative developments across LATAM and advise on business impacts and opportunities
  • Oversee all regulatory engagement with LATAM wagering authorities, regulators, and government bodies
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all licensing obligations and support new license applications and renewals across the region
  • Interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable business practices
  • Develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs in areas such as AML/CTF, responsible gambling, data privacy, sanctions, and anti-bribery
  • Lead compliance monitoring, auditing, reporting, and remediation activities
  • Partner with global compliance to ensure consistency with group frameworks and standards
  • Serve as a point of escalation for compliance incidents, investigations, and regulator inquiries
  • Partner closely with Product, Operations, Marketing, Payments, Risk, and Finance teams to ensure compliant product design, customer processes, and market launches
  • Support regional growth planning and market entry assessments with legal and regulatory analysis
  • Manage relationships with external counsel across LATAM jurisdictions
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing regional legal and compliance team
  • Set clear objectives, drive operational excellence, and foster a culture of integrity and accountability

Requirements

  • Law degree and eligibility to practice in a LATAM jurisdiction
  • 10+ years’ post-qualified experience, with deep exposure to regulated industries (preferably wagering, gaming, fintech, payments, telecoms, or other highly regulated sectors)
  • Demonstrated experience working with LATAM regulatory bodies
  • Proven ability to interpret and influence regulatory frameworks
  • Strong background in compliance, including AML/CTF and responsible gambling
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in both English and Spanish (Portuguese advantageous)
  • Experience operating in a multinational, matrixed organisation
  • Fluency in English

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in online wagering, sports betting, or digital entertainment
  • Experience leading teams across multiple LATAM jurisdictions
  • Familiarity with global regulatory standards (e.g., UKGC, MGA, AU wagering frameworks)

  • Develop and execute the long-term Trade channel strategy in coordination with GBUs, covering the most effective Route-to-Market throughout the product lifecycle — from launch readiness to maturity optimization and post-LoE cost-efficiency
  • Drive product launch success through trade channel management, with particular focus on 2027 launch acceleration and accelerating time-to-market for innovative therapies
  • Execute and operationalize patient access decisions, coverage execution, and distribution strategies to ensure commercialized products are available in the market
