Head of Learning - GCSE Maths & English/A Levels: A strategic leadership role at the heart of our academic provision. Chichester College is seeking an exceptional and highly experienced senior education leader to take up the role of Head of Learning - GCSE Maths & English and A Levels. This is a critical appointment for the College, with strategic oversight of learning, teaching and outcomes for over 3,000 GCSE Maths and English students and more than 650 A Level students. This is a strategic role, with support from two Teaching and Learning Managers (one A Level and one GCSE) reporting into you. This role sits at the centre of our quality, performance and curriculum strategy and will suit a candidate currently operating at Assistant Principal or equivalent senior leadership level, with a strong track record of raising standards, leading managers and delivering impact at scale.
Job Responsibility
Leading and managing staff (GCSE), finances, management information and resources within the curriculum area, in accordance with our College Group’s core values, behaviours, policies, procedures and regulations and in pursuit of a high quality, effective and efficient provision
Managing day-to-day operations of GCSEs and A Levels, raising the quality of the learning experience of students and their levels of satisfaction
Researching and developing the curriculum offer to meet the developing needs of students, employers, and the local community, considering changing legislative requirements including curriculum reform, Ofsted and the local skills improvement plans (LSIPs)
Participating in the College Group’s ‘Proud to be’ approach to student behaviour management to support students to attend, engage, progress achieve to the best of their ability
Leading, inspiring and enabling the expectations of the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment within the curriculum cluster, ensuring that all students develop knowledge, understanding, skills and abilities within a secure, challenging and stimulating educational environment
Requirements
Value-added measures, for example ALPs (A Levels)
Further Education curriculum delivery planning and administration
An understanding of contemporary educational and societal issues that impact student engagement with education and their learning
A Certificate in Education or Post Graduate Certificate in Education, or equivalent
A degree or equivalent experience in the relevant subject areas (GCSE or A Level)
High degree of personal presentation and customer care skills
