Job Description:

St. Peter’s International School, located in Palmela near Lisbon, serves around 1,500 students from 4 months to 18 years on a modern 37,000 m² campus. The school offers a bilingual curriculum (Portuguese/English), Cambridge programmes, and the International Baccalaureate, alongside boarding options for older students. We are seeking a passionate and highly qualified Head of IB English to lead and deliver the IB English Language & Literature and/or Literature programmes starting in August for the next academic year. Job Responsibility:

  • Lead, develop, and oversee the IB English curriculum and teaching team
  • Design and deliver engaging, differentiated IB English lessons for diverse learners
  • Use innovative teaching methods, including inquiry-based learning and digital tools
  • Monitor student progress, ensuring high academic standards and effective assessment practices
  • Support curriculum planning, standardisation, and departmental development
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom culture and promote student well-being
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, contribute to whole-school initiatives, and participate in extracurricular activities
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and uphold safeguarding policies

Requirements:

  • A degree in English, Education, or a related field (teaching qualification required)
  • Proven experience teaching IB English (Language & Literature and/or Literature)
  • Previous experience in a leadership or coordination role (preferred)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and organisational skills
  • Experience in an international or multicultural school environment (preferred)
  • Strong command of English and a clear commitment to student well-being
