Job Description

Our first-ever Furniture Village store opened its doors in Abingdon in 1989 with a simple philosophy, to offer truly excellent products, prices, and service to all our customers. Thirty years and over 50 UK-wide stores later, this philosophy still holds true, and we are the country’s number one, independently owned furniture retailer and still growing. We put gorgeous, stylish furniture within everybody’s reach. We are now looking for a Head of HR to join our team. As Head of HR, you are responsible for leading the HR function and working with the Commercial Director and senior leadership team to develop and deliver a people strategy that supports the achievement of Furniture Village’s strategic aims and commercial objectives. You will lead the HR team to provide a professional, credible, consistent and commercially focused HR service across the business. The role is accountable for ensuring that people-related decisions are legally compliant, aligned to company values, supportive of business performance and delivered with appropriate judgement, pace and care. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders and managers, providing clear guidance on employment law, employee relations, organisational change, talent, performance, engagement and people risk. You will champion the company values and leadership behaviours, helping to create a high-performing, accountable and engaged workforce. The role will be based at our Slough Head Office four to five days per week, with flexibility for the fifth day to be spent in the field supporting the business where required.
