The Head of HR, Asia is expected to operate as a true business partner to regional leadership and global stakeholders in the planning and execution of Sotheby’s people programmes across the region. In this fast-paced matrix environment, you will be leading a team to ensure effective, timely and professional delivery of the full scope of HR services for the region. You will be an integral contributor to the work of the international HR team and will be expected to proactively collaborate with counterparts in America and Europe. You will lead a client-focused team to ensure that Human Resources practices are conducted in a professional manner to meet company standards.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Asia leadership team and divisional business leaders with strategic HR insights, talent management, performance management, workforce and compensation planning
Lead a high-functioning HR team focused on timeliness, professionalism and partnership
Continually work to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and transfer of workflows to enhance efficiencies and self-service delivery models
Build and maintain strong relationships with business line and function leaders, supporting the Asia leadership team in managing to the budget and developing talent
Manage employee relations matters and mitigate people risks, acting as coach and point of escalation for local and regional matters
Provide expert advice and HR insight as it relates to hiring needs, organisational design, potential acquisitions and any other relevant initiatives across the region
Ensure full legal compliance and financial prudence when partnering with the business
Through effective leadership of the HR team, ensure employment records are maintained to a standard that meets internal and external audit requirements
Requirements:
Degree educated required
12+ years of professional experience preferred
5+ in people management role
Strong expertise in all areas of HR management including organization design and workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, management training, compensation planning, etc
Effective leadership skills, both in building teams and working across functions
Strong business acumen and analytic skills
Outstanding influencing skills and proven coaching capability
Leader in collaboration capabilities
Strong planning and organizing skills
including proven project management expertise
Ability to lead a team, including during times of change, through collaboration and adaptation of leadership style as necessary
