Job Description

Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Head of Healthcare to join the Health & Justice team at HMP High Down. The role involves delivering patient-focused quality care, looking after the healthcare needs of patients in secure environments, and promoting health and well-being. The service works to a 7-day week model.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for the management & daily delivery of health services including change management in the implementation of service development strategies
  • Work with the HJS DDO South and Health & Justice Service Directors to ensure that the strategic direction as defined within the service is effectively implemented at operational level
  • Lead in the development of future plans, standards and systems for secure settings health services
  • Deputise for the HJS DDO South where appropriate
  • Responsible for the healthcare budgets and ensure services are delivered according to the commissioned requirements
  • Identify and participate in the tendering for new business opportunities
  • Deliver & prepare robust financial management in line with Service, Divisional and Trust targets
  • Contribute to the establishment of new services that meet national and local requirements
  • Ensure staffing levels and skill mix fully and effectively meet the needs of the service
  • Chair panels (disciplinary, grievances etc) within the service area
  • Investigate complaints and liaise with service users/carers
  • Lead in the planning and development of healthcare within the HJS Operations South
  • Manage the delivery of high quality healthcare
  • Manage health care services, developing and maintaining effective systems for performance and quality management
  • Monitor and review any sub-contracted services
  • Actively promote equality issues in day to day activities and standards of practice
  • Ensure a whole systems approach to the delivery of healthcare
  • Participate actively in the partnership agenda
  • Manage and monitor allocated budgets
  • Ensure that Clinical Governance is a key component of all services
  • Maintain and develop healthcare services that ensure all elements of the service delivery are complaint with the Healthcare Commission Standards
