GM Korea sits at the intersection of global business strategy and one of the world's most dynamic automotive markets. As Head of Communications for GM Korea, you will serve as the country's most senior communications leader, responsible for shaping and protecting GM Korea's corporate reputation, driving compelling narratives across internal and external audiences, and navigating a complex media, regulatory, and stakeholder landscape. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned communications professional who brings strategic clarity, strong message discipline, and the ability to influence at the executive level. You will also lead and develop a talented local team while partnering closely with regional and global stakeholders to advance GM Korea's business priorities.
Job Responsibility
Lead the development and execution of GM Korea's integrated communications strategy across corporate, product, internal, crisis, government, and industry relations communications
serve as the primary communications advisor to the GM Korea President and CEO and Executive Committee, providing strategic counsel on reputation-sensitive matters
own the full external communications agenda, including proactive and reactive media relations with Korean national, business, and trade media
direct multi-brand product communications strategy across Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC in the Korean market in alignment with global brand teams
lead crisis communications planning and response, ensuring disciplined and consistent messaging across stakeholder groups during sensitive or rapidly evolving situations
drive employee communications programs that strengthen engagement, reinforce company strategy, and build pride in GM Korea's contribution to the global business
build and maintain strong relationships with key government agencies, including MOTIE and MOEL, as well as industry associations, opinion leaders, and key journalists
manage and develop the GM Korea communications team across both corporate affairs and marketing communications
partner closely with GM Global Markets Communications, GM China Communications, and Global Communications leadership to ensure alignment on enterprise messaging and narratives
represent GM Korea in cross-market and global communications forums
Requirements
10+ years of communications experience
marketing communications experience preferred
prior team management experience required
5+ years of experience in a multinational company or equivalent global business environment required
strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
bilingual proficiency in Korean and English preferred
PR agency experience preferred
digital and social media literacy, with experience leading digital or social media campaigns preferred
strong strategic thinking, storytelling, and message development capabilities
strong understanding of how audiences consume information across channels
exceptional writing, presentation, and organizational skills
proven ability to build strong relationships across functions and with senior business partners
demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, operate with flexibility, and manage through ambiguity in a global matrix environment
strong prioritization and multitasking skills in a fast-paced setting
solid business and brand acumen
strong judgment in reputation and issues management, with excellent problem-solving ability
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field
