Job Responsibility:
Lead the Geography department, ensuring high-quality curriculum planning and delivery
Support colleagues in developing strong subject knowledge and effective teaching strategies
Monitor assessment practices to identify gaps in understanding and support staff in addressing them
Oversee the development of engaging schemes of work that promote curiosity and deeper understanding
Model excellent classroom practice and contribute to teaching across the department
Work with senior leaders to raise standards and support whole‑school initiatives
Ensure provision meets the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs
Contribute to departmental improvement planning and staff development
Requirements:
Qualified teacher with strong experience teaching Geography at secondary level
Proven ability to lead, inspire and support colleagues within a department
Strong subject knowledge with the ability to deliver high‑quality and well‑structured lessons
Confident in using assessment to identify misconceptions and adapt teaching effectively
Skilled in creating an ambitious and inclusive learning environment
Organised, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement
Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute positively to wider school life
