Job Description:

The role is responsible for developing, managing and coordinating the General Services function within the organisation. The role is wide and varied and will involve leading and supporting a team, ensuring that excellent standards are applied to the key services and processes that support the core business of Blackrock Clinic. The key services and functions under the General Services remit are as follows: Catering Services; Hygiene Services; Cleaning Services; Attendants Services; Laundry and Linen Services; Housekeeping Services; Accommodation Services

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide leadership, clear direction, motivation and support to the hospital in the pursuit of positive patient outcomes though the provision of a consistent and high-quality support service for patients
  • Be responsible for managing, coordinating and developing the General Services Function
  • Be responsible for the planning and implementation of systems that support Blackrock Clinic in compliance with all aspects of local and national legislation/regulation together with national and international best practice standards relating to the General Services function
  • Liaise closely with all relevant departments and services within Blackrock Clinic in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines for support services
  • Cooperate and appropriately engage with external stakeholders and regulatory authorities charged with the enforcement of legislation and oversight of standards/regulations compliance (i.e. HIQA, EPA, HAS, EHO)
  • Delivery of strategic objectives, operational goals and targets within the remit of the General Services function, on budget and, cognisant and in line with the Blackrock Clinic strategic corporate goals and objectives
  • Demonstrate effective leadership through exemplary people management, and adherence to Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain appropriate and consistent professional relationships and partnerships with clinical and non-clinical partners in Blackrock Clinic
  • Be responsible for developing, implementing and managing appropriate key performance measures and metrics that focus on Quality, Risk, Hygiene Standards, Food Hygiene Standards, Patient care, Customer expectations and be accountable for ensuring compliance with targets
  • Partake in the design and development of all support service systems and standards for BRC including cleaning standards, Attending service standards, hygiene service standards etc
  • Co-ordinate the development of role specific whole hospital policies. Develop a data base of policies on the Hospital’s Q Pulse system and put a process in place for a regular review / update of policies and procedures relating to all General Service functions
  • Be responsible and accountable for the management of the areas assigned including leadership of all support service staff and supervision of these staff, through the respective line managers
  • Manage resources within set targets and constraints. Ensure resource utilisation is regularly reviewed and maintained at optimal levels of efficiency and effectiveness
  • Authorise monthly contract invoice or purchasing invoice payments within approved limits
  • Be innovative with regard to the development of operational standards and work processes. Identify and lead on projects that improve the quality of patient care in respect of all support services
  • Ensure confidentiality on all matters and on all information obtained during the course of employment with BRC

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ management experience essential
  • Strong people management experience
  • Contract management experience
  • Industry experience desirable- hospital / manufacturing / or equivalent setting
  • Strong knowledge and experience with SOPs and audits
  • Experience in compliance with all aspects of local and national legislation/regulation, national and international best practice standards relating to the General Services function
