This is a pivotal senior leadership role (C13-level) responsible for strategically leading and managing the Financial Institutions (FI) portfolios across the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The FI Head will be instrumental in protecting and expanding existing revenue streams, aggressively pursuing new growth opportunities, and capitalizing on the unique market dynamics of these complex and high-potential jurisdictions. This role demands a leader who can combine strategic oversight with direct, high-touch engagement, ensuring meticulous management of key client relationships and driving innovation to achieve substantial revenue upside. The successful candidate will act as a trusted strategic advisor to our clients, assisting them in capital raising, providing strategic advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, and other complex financial transactions in close coordination with the Institutional Banking team, ultimately formulating impactful investment strategies and driving capital formation.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and strategically manage relationships with top tier Financial Institutions in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico
Protect and expand existing revenue streams while proactively identifying and aggressively pursuing new growth opportunities in both territories
Formulate and execute the strategic direction for the FI sector, ensuring alignment with Citi’s overall business strategy, financial plans, and organizational health goals
Drive the next phase of growth, fostering innovation and identifying structured opportunities within these dynamic jurisdictions to achieve material revenue upside
Ensure focused, high-touch engagement with the largest and most important FI clients, building and maintaining strong, enduring relationships built on trust and strategic partnership
Proactively identify customer needs and recommend comprehensive financial solutions, including financing, cash management, foreign currency solutions, and other specialized banking products
Serve as a trusted strategic advisor, formulating sophisticated investment strategies and facilitating capital raising for clients, alongside M&A and financial advisory services
Expand a portfolio of accounts with varying and complex financial needs, with a clear objective of driving significant revenue growth and maintaining excellent credit quality in line with Citi’s stringent credit standards
Aggressively cross-sell a broad range of banking products, including cash management, trade finance, trade services, structured trade products, foreign exchange, commodities, fixed income, loans (syndicated, bilateral), and capital market products
Drive critical new business acquisition and realize substantial cross-sell opportunities to mitigate risks of business loss and ensure sustained growth
Oversee all credit aspects of client relationships, including rigorous annual reviews, early problem recognition, and effective remedial management strategies
Appropriately assess and manage risk in all business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for Citi's reputation and safeguarding clients and assets
Drive uncompromising compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhere strictly to Policy, apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and proactively escalate, manage, and report control issues with full transparency
Requirements:
10+ years of progressive and senior-level experience in corporate banking, financial institutions coverage, or a similar leadership relationship management role
Significant exposure to and deep understanding of Latin American markets, particularly the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, is highly preferred
Proven leadership experience with a distinguished track record of managing and growing complex client portfolios and leading strategic initiatives
Comprehensive knowledge of credit analytics, financial modeling, and proven expertise in risk assessment and valuation
Strong understanding of capital markets, M&A, and financial advisory services
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead diverse teams
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple, competing priorities
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience required
Master's degree (e.g., MBA, Finance) preferred
English fluency is required
Spanish fluency is required
