The Head of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall financial operations and stewardship of the organisation and its associated entities. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Board and senior stakeholders, the Head of Finance will play a key role in shaping financial strategy, managing risk, and ensuring robust governance in line with regulatory and statutory requirements. The role also involves leading and developing the finance function, embedding strong process controls and driving continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Act as a strategic Finance Business Partner, providing high‑quality insight, challenge and commercial guidance to senior decision makers
Hold overall financial responsibility across multiple business units, ensuring strong controls and alignment with organisational strategy
Lead budgeting, long‑term financial planning and reforecasting, delivering clarity and accuracy for senior stakeholders
Produce cashflow forecasts and manage communication with the wider Group on funding requirements
Oversee compliance with all relevant financial regulations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
Support commercial and contractual decision‑making through robust financial modelling and analysis
Lead, develop and manage the finance team, including oversight of payroll and day‑to‑day finance operations
Ensure accurate month‑end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and invoicing
Deliver clear, insightful financial updates and recommendations to the Board
Own partnership budgeting and modelling to support revenue growth initiatives
Manage payroll processes in collaboration with HR, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance
Maintain full compliance with financial monitoring, audit and statutory requirements
Act as a key contact for external funding bodies, ensuring all reporting obligations are met
Oversee VAT and tax compliance across all entities
Work closely with Group Finance to ensure alignment, consistency and effective shared processes
Provide financial and operational support to the CEO and CFO as required
Contribute positively to organisational culture, values and cross‑department collaboration
Requirements:
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 3+ years post‑qualified experience
Significant leadership experience, ideally within a fast‑paced organisation
Strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management expertise
Proven experience of financial business partnering
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
Strong understanding of financial controls, audit, governance and regulatory compliance
Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
High attention to detail, integrity and the ability to manage sensitive information
