Allen Lane is supporting the Security Industry Authority (SIA) in their search for a permanent Head of Finance. The SIA’s purpose is protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector. Our regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom. The SIA has a total resource expenditure of c.£40m and a capital expenditure of c.£4m annually.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the SIA’s Finance Team, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and value for money across all expenditure
Provide expert financial advice to senior leaders and support strategic planning
Oversee budgeting, reporting, and audit processes in line with public sector standards
Report to the SIA’s Head of Finance & Procurement and be responsible for a team of 6-7 staff
Responsible for activities related to Business Partnering, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Financial Transactions, and Revenue Accounting
Oversee all SIA spend to ensure value for money and compliance with Managing Public Money guidelines
Requirements:
A relevant professional accountancy qualification (applicants must be qualified within a CCAB body)
Strong knowledge and experience of central government finances, including IFRS, Managing Public Money, the Government Financial Reporting Manual, and HM Treasury guidelines
Experienced in providing high quality financial analysis to inform strategic and operational business decisions
An intellectual capacity and ability to move between strategic thinking and technical detail across a range of complex finance workstreams
Experience of leading a well-respected professional services team that provides excellent customer service
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to proactively manage and influence a variety of stakeholders positively and work in a collaborative manner
Inclusive leadership skills, with a demonstrable commitment to developing and nurturing a diverse, inclusive, and talented team
Nice to have:
Applied knowledge of finance in the context of a non-departmental public body and/or a fee-funded not for profit organisation
Experience in contributing to the development of business cases using the HMT Green Book/Better Business Cases methodology
An interest in the private security industry and/or public protection

36-hour working week
Hybrid working with a minimum of 1-2 days per week of office attendance expected
