Head of Finance | Luxury Consumer Brand | West Sussex / Hybrid. The business has built a strong reputation within the premium retail and e-commerce space, combining exceptional product quality with a highly engaged customer base. The business continues to expand across retail, digital, and wholesale channels, with finance playing a key role in supporting commercial performance and partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation. This role offers a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership position within a dynamic SME environment, working alongside an experienced CFO while shaping the future of the finance function as well as the business itself. The Role: Reporting functionally to the CFO and working closely with the COO, the Head of Finance will play a pivotal role leading the day-to-day finance function while providing commercial insight to support strategic decision making. This position blends financial leadership, commercial finance, and operational oversight. You will manage and develop the finance team while delivering clear insight on trading performance, margin, pricing, and forecasting. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a hands-on environment, combining strong technical finance knowledge with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful commercial insight for senior stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and develop the finance team, including the Management Accountant and transactional staff
Oversee the month-end close and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
Deliver weekly trading and performance reporting with clear commercial insights
Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to support profitability and margin performance
Own the budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes, including scenario modelling
Review management accounts, KPIs, and financial packs, providing clear commentary to leadership
Maintain oversight of cashflow and working capital to support operational planning
Drive process improvements and reporting enhancements to strengthen the finance function
Requirements:
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
Experience managing or mentoring finance staff within a growing business environment
Exposure to stock, margin, costings, and product economics
Advanced financial modelling and Excel capability
Strong ability to interpret trading data and translate it into clear commercial insights
Confident communicator with the ability to partner with senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on SME environment
Nice to have:
Experience using BI tools such as Power BI or Looker Studio
Strong commercial finance experience within retail, consumer, product, or equivalent
Experience working with ERP systems such as Netsuite, SAP Business One, or Sage Intacct
