Airbus is seeking a Head of Engineering - Resource & Competency, a functional manager role that reports directly to the Regional Head of Resource & Competency and is responsible for all resources within the Mobile Engineering Department. With an understanding of work task requirements and in cooperation with the Heads of Engineering - Projects; employee assignments, skill development, training needs, application requirements, performance assessments and associated salary adjustments are areas of focus.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage staffing solutions by transitioning, recruiting or reducing personnel appropriately with focus on overall performance while maintaining redundancy in critical competencies, skills, delegations and assuring diversity
  • Assure significant individual, team, or group achievements are recognized and address poor performance of individuals or teams when needed
  • Lead annual performance assessment to assure fairness across all project and domain teams
  • Assure long-term success by understanding the needs of the project team, the individual, and the office by providing balanced staffing solutions that provide the appropriate critical skills and developmental opportunities
  • Support staff development needs
  • ensuring that these needs are identified and solutions are delivered
  • Work with the Mobile Engineering Leadership team on the annual promotion process
  • Maintain and promote proper ethical behavior by creating a high functioning team that is based on trust
  • Anticipate and develop competences required for future & disruptive technologies / architectures / products / new ways of working / environmental impacts and sustainable designs
  • Lead Summer Internship, Early Career Development and Airbus Global Graduate Programs locally
  • Coordinate with Heads of Resources and Competencies within Airbus Americas to support a Regional resourcing solution
  • Support the development of multi-skilling/component/program knowledge and capabilities
  • Responsible for the personal development of staff and ensuring succession planning is in place for leadership, supervisory and critical technical positions
  • Understand technical processes and inform staff of updates and/or new processes, methods and tools
  • Be the voice of the skills and the domain with Centre of Competence and all stakeholders meeting regularly with Technical Authorities and Technical Leadership within 1C and S
  • Supports the preparation of Engineers for Technical Signatory within the organization
  • Participate in the initial resource planning of work packages or activities and approve contractual agreements (Statement of Work)
  • Understand resource cost targets and manage staffing levels and costs to meet the business needs
  • Work with Mobile Engineering Leadership team to allocate annual bonuses and merit increases utilizing performance indicators while being fiscally aware of funding streams and impact to business operations
  • Collaborate with Project Teams to ensure One Voice in front of our customers
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition and HR to communicate resource needs and determine planning for resourcing events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering degree
  • 15 years of airframe engineering
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment and coordinate with many different functions
  • Ability to excel in a detail oriented environment
  • High degree of self-confidence, independence and self-starter/motivator
  • Proven ability to operate at all levels below Senior Management
  • Authorized to work in the US.
