Job Description

Fever is the leading global live-entertainment discovery tech platform, helping millions of people every week discover and book experiences, and inspiring over 300 million people last year across 40+ countries. We are hiring a Head of Engineering, Marketplace to lead the engineering strategy, delivery, scalability, and operating model of the platform that powers the core purchase funnel of our business. This leader will own the engineering organisation across Experience, Checkout, Discoverability, and Post Purchase, ensuring Fever’s marketplace remains fast, reliable, conversion-optimised, and resilient during the highest-traffic moments in our business.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the engineering strategy, roadmap delivery, quality bar, reliability, and architectural evolution of Fever’s Marketplace domain
  • Lead a manager-of-managers organisation and build a high-performing leadership bench across engineering managers, staff-plus engineers, and senior ICs
  • Partner with Product, Design, Data, Commercial, and Operations leaders to improve the full funnel from discovery through booking and post-purchase engagement
  • Raise the bar on traffic resilience and operational excellence, including readiness for peaks, launches, on-sales, incident response, observability, and capacity planning
  • Improve the marketplace’s underlying systems for search and discoverability, pricing and conversion, checkout and payments, post-purchase servicing, and experimentation
  • Balance short-term growth initiatives with long-term platform health, simplifying architecture where helpful and investing where the next bottleneck will emerge
  • Establish clear operating mechanisms: quarterly planning, technical review, dependency management, staffing plans, engineering metrics, and post-incident learning
  • Help shape company-wide engineering standards in platform quality, release management, data-informed decision-making, and AI-enabled engineering productivity

Requirements

  • Deep seniority: around 12+ years in software engineering, with substantial experience leading engineering leaders and cross-functional, product-facing organisations
  • Proven experience leading multiple teams through managers, ideally in a marketplace, checkout, discovery, growth, consumer trust, or adjacent funnel-heavy domain
  • Strong technical judgment in distributed systems, modern cloud infrastructure, APIs/ integrations, mobile/web product systems, observability, and incident management
  • Experience owning or partnering deeply on at least two of the following: search/ recommendations, checkout/payments, risk/fraud/trust, retention/lifecycle/post- purchase, internationalisation/localisation, high-traffic consumer web/mobile
  • Demonstrated ability to translate commercial goals into engineering priorities using metrics, experimentation, and clear trade-off decisions
  • Track record of improving engineering maturity: planning discipline, staffing models, quality systems, architecture review, delivery predictability, and leadership development

Nice to have

  • Experience in a category such as ticketing, travel, e-commerce, food delivery, gaming commerce, consumer fintech, or classifieds
  • Experience with search, ranking, personalisation, or recommendation systems
  • Experience with payments, refund flows, fraud prevention, identity, or regulated transaction systems
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled product features and with using AI to improve product relevance or engineering productivity
  • Experience supporting global, localised consumer products with multiple payment methods, regions, and traffic patterns

What we offer

  • Attractive compensation package consisting of base salary and the potential to earn a significant bonus for top performance
  • Stock options
  • Opportunity to have a real impact in a high-growth global category leader
  • 40% discount on all Fever events and experiences
  • Health insurance
  • Flexible remuneration with a 100% tax exemption through Cobee
  • Home office friendly
  • English and Spanish Lessons
  • Possibility to receive in advance part of your salary by Payflow
