Job Description

As a Head of Engineering and Platform, you will have the opportunity to define and influence the next version of our operating model. This is a permanent role with a salary range of GBP95,000, and you will be responsible for building the engineering system that enables autonomous product teams to innovate confidently while maintaining production stability at scale. This client is based in Peterborough and will require 2 days per week onsite so you do need to be commutable to Peterborough.

Job Responsibility

  • Reshape platform architecture, embed DevSecOps discipline, and raise engineering standards across teams
  • Establish what "production-ready" means and ensure that once systems go live, they are stable, observable, secure, and resilient
  • Lead the evolution of service operations, transforming the service desk from reactive ticket handling into a structured feedback loop that strengthens engineering quality and platform resilience

Requirements

  • Expertise in .NET, DevSecOps, application architecture, integration, and cloud-hosted solutions, particularly in Azure
  • Proven experience in leading platform or engineering transformation within complex, operationally critical environments
  • Ability to embed DevSecOps and automation at scale, own production environments with tangible commercial impact, and improve reliability through structural change
  • Proficiency in raising and enforcing engineering standards, balancing innovation with risk awareness and operational discipline
  • Experience in modernising service operations to align more closely with engineering accountability
  • Architectural credibility, commercial awareness, and the confidence to make difficult calls where quality or resilience are concerned
  • Passion for building durable systems and shaping the teams that build them
  • Ability to provide confident technical leadership at senior levels, translating engineering realities into business impact
