The Head of Early Learning School (ELS) is a key member of the Altair Leadership Team, responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Early Years department, which serves students from ages 2 to 6. This role combines visionary educational leadership with strong management and interpersonal skills. The Head of Early Learning School will ensure that Altair’s youngest learners experience a warm, nurturing, and inspiring environment aligned with the school’s mission and the Inspired Education ethos.
Job Responsibility:
Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Early Learning School
Lead a team of teachers and assistants to deliver a developmentally appropriate and bilingual curriculum
Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment
Oversee curriculum design, planning, and assessment
Ensure that teaching practices are innovative, child-centred, and based on current research
Develop and implement strategies to support the transition of children from Early Learning to Primary School
Work closely with the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team
Recruit, develop, and evaluate Early Learning staff
Build strong, trusting relationships with families and the school community
Oversee health, safety, and safeguarding standards
Lead and model Inspired commitment to excellence, wellbeing, and global-minded education
Ensure the completion of all requirements and documentation necessary for the school’s authorization and ongoing compliance with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
Requirements:
A university degree in Education or Early Childhood Education
Proven experience in Early Years education, including leadership experience in a bilingual or international school
Deep knowledge of early childhood pedagogy, curriculum frameworks, and child development
Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing teachers and assistants
A strong understanding of bilingual education and language acquisition in young learners
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
A collaborative, innovative, and reflective approach to leadership
Native or near-native English proficiency
A commitment to Inspired Education’s values of excellence, global citizenship, and holistic education
Nice to have:
A Master’s or Postgraduate qualification in Educational Leadership or a related field
