The Head of Digital Design is a senior global leadership role responsible for shaping how digital design capability is developed, shared and applied across the 10N Collective. The role exists to ensure that digital tools, platforms, skills and workflows support design quality, delivery certainty and business performance, while enabling innovation and collaboration across practice brands, studios and regions. Rather than acting as a central production function, the Head of Digital Design operates as a strategic connector and multiplier, establishing common standards and platforms where they add value, and empowering local teams to excel within their own contexts.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and develop a globally distributed digital design function comprising BIM managers, Revit content specialists, design application specialists, CAD and visualisation experts across multiple practice brands
Create a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement across regions and disciplines
Define a clear digital design capability framework covering architecture, retrofit and related disciplines, applicable across sectors and geographies
Support succession planning, talent development and performance management within the digital design community
Set the strategic direction for digital design across the 10Design Collective, aligned with design ambition, sustainability objectives and business priorities
Oversee the evolution of digital platforms, including BIM, data environments, interoperability, visualisation and emerging technologies
Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve workflows where collective approaches deliver clear benefit
Ensure digital design is integrated across the full project lifecycle, from pursuit and procurement through delivery and post-completion insights
Work in close partnership with studio leads, design directors and IT teams to ensure digital strategies respond to real operational and design needs
Enable effective knowledge sharing across practice brands through training frameworks, guidance, documentation and shared learning
Support project leaders and teams in making informed choices about digital tools and methods, balancing innovation with reliability and scalability
Ensure digital design approaches support collaboration and cross-selling across the Collective, particularly on complex, multi-disciplinary projects
Define and maintain the Collective’s approach to digital design, BIM and specialist design software in line with industry best practice
Engage with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers to shape and deliver digital strategies appropriate to the project and market context
Oversee the definition of project-specific digital deliverables and the performance of external consultants where relevant
Actively participate in industry networks and forums to maintain 10Design’s position as a forward-thinking and credible digital leader
Lead digital design budget planning and oversight in collaboration with the 10Design COO and the Egis service line IT leadership
Ensure software procurement, licensing and renewals are aligned with business needs and deliver value for money
Manage relationships with Egis shared services to ensure compliance with service-level agreements and group standards
Balance collective efficiencies with flexibility for local studio requirements
Implement appropriate service management processes within the digital design function to support stability, responsiveness and continuous improvement
Lead research and development initiatives exploring how emerging digital tools can improve design quality, delivery performance and sustainability outcomes
Contribute to disaster recovery planning and cyber security initiatives in collaboration with IT leadership
Oversee the full lifecycle of digital design applications, from specification and selection through deployment, support and optimisation
Work with infrastructure teams to ensure digital design environments are robust, scalable and fit for purpose, including cloud services and high-performance computing where required
Requirements:
8+ years’ experience in senior digital marketing roles, ideally within architecture, engineering, infrastructure, professional services or other complex B2B environments
Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation in a design-led or professional services environment
Strong understanding of architectural and design workflows, with the ability to bridge creative, technical and commercial priorities
Proven ability to drive change, embedding new tools and ways of working across diverse teams and geographies
Credible senior leader with the communication skills to influence at Executive, studio and project level
Strategic mindset combined with pragmatic delivery focus
Commitment to continuous improvement and staying at the forefront of digital design practice and technology
