Job Description:

We are a fast-growing renewable energy owner and operator focused on utility-scale solar PV and co-located battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the UK. With a significant and expanding operational footprint across Southeast England, we are focused on maximising asset performance and building an innovative data-driven, future-ready energy platform. The successful candidate will take ownership of operational data, both technical and commercial, across our solar and BESS portfolio. This is a hands-on, standalone role focused on building this new internal capability central to the business, which will include bespoke dashboards, analytics tools, and data infrastructure that directly supports asset performance and revenue optimisation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and build bespoke dashboards for solar and BESS assets (performance, availability, revenue, faults)
  • Translate SCADA, EMS, operational and commercial data into intuitive, decision-ready visualisations for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Track and analyse asset KPIs including the full revenue stack, yield, degradation, curtailment, and battery cycling
  • Build and maintain data pipelines integrating SCADA, IoT, and third-party systems
  • Structure datasets to enable reliable and scalable analytics and reporting
  • Develop a robust and secure cloud-based data environment (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Work with the commercial and technical teams to identify performance trends, anomalies, and optimisation opportunities
  • Support BESS dispatch optimisation and solar asset performance decisions
  • Enable predictive and condition-based maintenance insights
  • Partner with Asset Management and Trading teams to support revenue optimisation
  • Contribute to forecasting and trading strategy through data insights
  • Act as the central point of contact for operational data
  • Lay the foundations for AI and machine learning applications across the portfolio
  • Explore use cases in forecasting, anomaly detection, and automated optimisation (technical & commercial)
  • Support the long-term digital and data strategy of the business

Requirements:

  • Strong experience working with energy or infrastructure data (renewables, utilities, or power markets preferred)
  • Understanding of cloud database structuring for resilience and security
  • Ability to lead in the designing of the data ecosystem and ensuring its reliability in delivering key operational metrics
  • Experience in data capture and processing from a range of sources
  • Proven experience building visualisations, dashboards and data tools from scratch
  • Hands-on capability with data tools (e.g. Python, SQL, ClickHouse, Grafana, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
  • Familiarity with SCADA, EMS, or operational asset data systems
  • Understanding of solar PV and/or BESS performance metrics is advantageous
  • Exposure to or strong interest in AI/ML applications

Nice to have:

  • Ideal candidate should be a strong self-starter given they will be responsible for building out and overseeing this new business capability
  • Although a new standalone function within the business, it will involve close working relationships with the management team, technical and commercial leads and therefore the candidate should be a proven team player
  • An attention to detail will be required to ensure the quality of the data being inputted into the data ecosystem, and hence the quality of its outputs
  • A natural curiosity to investigate and challenge when things do not appear to be right would also be highly valued
