Gallagher is seeking a Head of Compliance to take ownership of its global product and market compliance functions. This is a pivotal senior leadership role with global visibility, responsible for ensuring products are designed, approved, and launched confidently across multiple regulatory regimes. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will own the compliance strategy, governance, and roadmap, lead a specialist team of three, and act as Gallagher’s primary representative to regulators, standards bodies, and certification partners worldwide. You’ll have the opportunity to build the compliance function from the ground up, move from reactive to proactive compliance, and embed governance into product development and lifecycle management.
Job Responsibility:
Compliance Strategy & Governance - Own Gallagher’s global compliance strategy and frameworks. Set KPIs and dashboards to keep compliance consistent, auditable, and proactive
Regulatory Leadership & Market Approvals - Stay ahead of regulatory changes across NZ and key global markets. Lead approvals, labelling, documentation, and act as Gallagher’s primary liaison with regulators and industry bodies
Laboratory & NPD Compliance - Lead the IANZ-accredited lab (ISO/IEC 17025) and embed compliance-by-design into product development through the Compliance Working Group
Readiness & Response - Ensure recall and incident preparedness, CAPA management, and clear regulatory reporting. Translate complex compliance rules into practical, business-ready solutions
Requirements:
10+ years in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality within electronics, hardware, agri-tech, IoT, or high-tech manufacturing
Proven leadership of accredited electrical testing laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) or equivalent quality systems
Strong knowledge of IEC and UL electrical appliance standards, EMC compliance standards, Cybersecurity standards and future roadmaps
Strong knowledge of New Zealand/Australia regulatory frameworks and experience with international approvals and certification
Confidence engaging senior leaders, regulators, auditors, and external partners
Ability to translate complex regulations into practical, commercially-focused solutions
Nice to have:
Exposure to export controls, trade compliance, or corporate governance
Familiarity with ISO 9001, or other standards
Experience influencing cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and operation
