Job Description

You will lead one of the most important platform modernisation programs in our ANZ managed services business: simplifying legacy platforms, accelerating our cloud journey, and creating the engineering foundations for more automated, reliable, and intelligent service delivery. You will be accountable for modernising the core platforms, tools, data foundations, and engineering practices that our services business depends on. Your focus will be to turn platform strategy into execution: leading our Azure and cloud platform journey, driving the platform execution required for data centre exit, consolidating legacy platforms, improving observability, strengthening automation, and integrating platform capabilities with service management. The central challenge is to bring structure, sequencing, and execution discipline to a complex platform environment while maintaining service continuity for existing customers. This is not a traditional architecture role. We need a senior technical execution leader who can take a north-star platform direction, architecture principles, and business priorities, then convert them into a sequenced, governed, and measurable delivery program. A key part of this will be building the foundations for AI-enabled and agentic operations: trusted operational data, integrated tooling, repeatable automation, reliable observability, and commercially sustainable platform patterns that reduce operational toil and improve service quality. You will join a platform organisation with significant transformation already in flight. Your role will be to bring clarity, structure, prioritisation, and momentum: deciding what matters most, creating the operating model to deliver it, reducing legacy complexity, improving reliability, and building platforms that are scalable, secure, cost-aware, and easier to operate. Success will be measured by delivered outcomes: migration progress, improved reliability, reduced toil, stronger cost transparency, and a clearer path from architecture to execution.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead platform modernisation across ANZ, including cloud adoption, Azure platform evolution, data centre exit, legacy rationalisation, automation, observability and service management integration
  • Translate architecture principles, standards and guardrails into practical delivery roadmaps, reusable patterns and engineering outcomes
  • Bring structure, sequencing, governance and prioritisation to complex platform initiatives
  • Lead and develop technical teams across platform engineering, architecture-aligned delivery, automation, observability, tooling and operations
  • Evolve the platform operating model toward clearer ownership, outcome-based delivery and stronger alignment between architecture, engineering, operations and service management
  • Improve reliability and operational maturity through observability, operational readiness, SLOs, incident learning and automation
  • Build the platform, data and automation foundations for more intelligent, AI-enabled operations
  • Improve commercial discipline across cloud consumption, tooling, vendor spend, lifecycle risk and legacy infrastructure costs
  • Influence senior stakeholders across service management, operations, sales, security, finance and global teams

Requirements

  • Senior platform, cloud, infrastructure, SRE, DevOps or systems engineering leader with experience leading technical teams through complex change
  • Proven track record delivering platform modernisation, cloud migration, data centre exit, automation, reliability uplift, tooling consolidation or operating model transformation
  • Strong technical credibility across cloud platforms, infrastructure, networking, automation, observability, reliability, security and operational support models
  • Practical architecture judgement, with the ability to establish principles, standards, guardrails and reusable patterns that improve delivery outcomes
  • Strong execution discipline, with the ability to bring structure, sequencing, prioritisation and momentum to complex environments
  • Managed services or multi-tenant mindset, with an understanding of multiple customers, contracts, service models and commercial constraints
  • Strong people leader who can build ownership, develop technical leaders and reduce dependency on individual heroes
  • Effective senior stakeholder influencer who can communicate technical complexity in business, risk, cost and service outcome terms
