Job Description

Compass Associates are proud to be working with a leading private healthcare provider who are currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Clinical Services to join their hospital in Nottingham on a maternity cover basis. This senior leadership role will take responsibility for the oversight of all clinical services across the site, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and driving operational excellence within an elective, orthopaedic-focused surgical environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced clinical leader to work closely with the Hospital Director and Senior Leadership Team to maintain strong performance standards, robust governance, and continuous improvement across the hospital.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide senior leadership and oversight across wards, theatres, and outpatient services
  • Ensure full compliance with CQC standards, clinical governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee clinical budgets, workforce planning, and effective resource allocation
  • Drive high standards of patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes across all services
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with consultants and key external stakeholders
  • Support, mentor, and develop departmental managers and multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to deliver operational and strategic objectives
  • Ensure effective risk management, incident oversight, and continuous quality improvement

Requirements

  • Current NMC or HCPC registration
  • Significant senior clinical leadership experience (Deputy Head / Head of Clinical Services level or equivalent)
  • Strong background in acute surgical or elective care settings, ideally orthopaedics
  • Proven experience in clinical governance, compliance, and CQC standards
  • Demonstrable experience managing budgets, workforce planning, and operational performance
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including working with consultants and senior clinicians
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced independent healthcare environment
