We are seeking an exceptional clinical leader to join our organisation as Head of Clinical Practice – Integrated Urgent Care Services. As Head of Clinical Practice, you will provide strategic clinical leadership across Urgent Treatment Centres and Integrated Urgent Care services (including Out of Hours), driving consistency, quality improvement and workforce excellence across multiple sites. Working in close partnership with the Group Medical Director, Chief Clinical Officer, Operational Leaders and Service Directors, you will provide visible, profession-neutral leadership across multidisciplinary teams, driving the development, standardisation and continuous improvement of clinical practice, workforce capability and patient outcomes across multiple sites, ensuring services deliver safe, effective, patient-centred and operationally sustainable care.
Job Responsibility:
Provide strategic clinical leadership across Urgent Treatment Centres and Integrated Urgent Care services
Lead the implementation of evidence-based clinical practice
Promote a culture of openness, accountability and continuous improvement
Support and develop clinical leaders through coaching and mentorship
Lead the development of a high-performing multidisciplinary workforce
Oversee recruitment, induction, appraisal, revalidation, supervision and competency assessment
Provide senior clinical oversight of incidents, complaints and serious concerns investigations
Strengthen governance systems relating to safeguarding, patient safety, audit, infection prevention and patient experience
Ensure services maintain inspection readiness and compliance with CQC and NHS standards
Lead delivery of the clinical strategy for urgent care services
Drive standardisation and reduce unwarranted variation in care
Support innovation including digital solutions and new care models
Represent the organisation with NHS partners, commissioners and regulators
Participate in senior on-call and escalation arrangements
Requirements:
Registered healthcare professional (NMC, HCPC or GMC)
Significant senior clinical leadership experience
Experience embedding governance frameworks and leading improvement
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites
Strong understanding of NHS policy, regulation and system working
Educated to Master’s level or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
Experience across NHS and independent sector settings
Background in service transformation or large-scale redesign
Leadership or management qualification
