Job Description:

Our client is charitable organisation in the middle of a significant digital transformation. They’re looking for a Head of Change to lead the people side of that transformation — ensuring programmes land well, colleagues are brought with them, and change embeds across the organisation rather than just being delivered at it. You’ll lead the organisation-wide change function at a senior level. You’ll own the change management approach across the transformation portfolio, working closely with digital and technology programmes to ensure the human and organisational dimensions are planned for and delivered — not bolted on at the end. You’ll line manage a small, experienced team and, between you, you’ll be responsible for impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and embedding new ways of working across the organisation. This is a role for someone who is credible with senior stakeholders, comfortable challenging upwards, and experienced enough to know that change management is as much about relationships and timing as it is about methodology.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading the design and delivery of change management activity across the digital transformation portfolio
  • Developing and owning organisation-wide change plans, including impact assessments, stakeholder maps, engagement strategies and readiness assessments
  • Working with programme teams to integrate change activity into project delivery from the outset
  • Line managing and developing the Programme Manager and two Business Analysts
  • Building change capability and confidence across the organisation, equipping teams to own and sustain change once it lands
  • Acting as a senior voice for people and organisational impact within the transformation directorate
  • Reporting on change readiness and progress to senior leadership and, where required, to the board

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience leading change management on large-scale, cross-organisational programmes
  • A strong understanding of change methodology (Prosci/ADKAR, Kotter, or equivalent) and the ability to apply it pragmatically
  • Experience working alongside digital, technology or systems transformation programmes
  • Proven track record of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including executive and board
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • able to land complex messages simply

Nice to have:

  • Formal change management qualification (Prosci, CMI or equivalent)
  • Experience in a not-for-profit, membership or public sector organisation
  • Familiarity with programme and project management frameworks (MSP, PRINCE2 or Agile)
What we offer:
  • Hybrid working
  • Pension
  • Annual leave
  • Healthcare
