The Head of Business Analyst – Banking acts as a banking domain expert and strategic advisor for clients in their digital transformation journey. This role requires not only strong analytical skills but also a deep understanding of banking products, operations, and digital channels to guide clients in defining the right business solutions. You will lead the BA team and work closely with Solution Architects, Delivery Directors, and client stakeholders to ensure that proposed solutions are practical, compliant, and aligned with banking best practices.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) on digital banking business processes, core banking business processes
Advise clients on banking operations and transformation strategies, providing recommendations on process optimisation, product design, and digital adoption
Lead and mentor the Business Analyst team to ensure requirements and business specifications are clearly defined and aligned with client goals
Collaborate with Technical and Delivery teams to validate that proposed solutions are feasible, compliant, and support business objectives
Conduct business consulting workshops with client stakeholders to understand pain points, map current processes, and design target-state models
Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and workflows, ensuring traceability and clarity throughout the delivery lifecycle
Support pre-sales and discovery phases, contributing domain expertise to solution proposals, RFP responses, and demonstrations
Stay up to date with banking industry trends, regulatory changes, and fintech innovations to proactively advise clients and enhance SmartOSC’s offerings
Ensure that all solutions comply with banking standards, security policies, and local regulatory frameworks
Promote a consulting-driven mindset within the BA team, ensuring that analysis and documentation go hand-in-hand with strategic business insight
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or Information Systems
10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Consultant in the banking or financial services sector, including at least 5 years in a lead or advisory role
Deep understanding of banking operations, especially in areas such as core banking, digital channels, lending, payments, and customer onboarding
Proven experience in advising or consulting with banks or financial institutions on digital transformation initiatives
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills, capable of engaging effectively with C-level and business leaders
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery environments and modern digital banking platforms
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to both detail and strategic impact
Nice to have:
Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent are a plus
