Hull College is looking for a dynamic Head of Building Technologies to lead our Plumbing, Construction and Brickwork provision and drive forward a culture of excellence, innovation and industry relevance. Job Responsibility:
Provide day‑to‑day leadership, development and support for all staff within the department
Shape and manage the curriculum offer, in collaboration with the Assistant Principal and other Institute Heads
Ensure effective planning, resourcing and timetabling of all courses
Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment—supporting staff through coaching and performance reviews
Maintain and enhance the accuracy of curriculum information, data and reporting
Contribute to curriculum marketing, events and employer engagement
Deliver an average of 3 hours of high‑quality teaching per week
Represent the College at internal and external meetings, including occasional evenings/weekends
Oversee departmental budgets and ensure effective financial management
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and student success
Requirements:
Relevant teaching qualification and subject specialism
Significant experience delivering excellent teaching and leading within Further Education
Experience of leading cross‑departmental themes—student engagement, progress, assessment and IQA
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong data analysis skills to inform improvement
Outstanding organisational and planning abilities
A genuine commitment to professional development and collaborative leadership
