Hull College is looking for a dynamic Head of Building Technologies to lead our Plumbing, Construction and Brickwork provision and drive forward a culture of excellence, innovation and industry relevance. As one of the region’s largest vocational institutions, Hull College is dedicated to creating careers, not courses. Now, we’re looking for a visionary curriculum leader to join us and help elevate our Building Technologies provision to the next level.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership, development and support for all staff within the department
  • Shape and manage the curriculum offer, in collaboration with the Assistant Principal and other Institute Heads
  • Ensure effective planning, resourcing and timetabling of all courses
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment—supporting staff through coaching and performance reviews
  • Maintain and enhance the accuracy of curriculum information, data and reporting
  • Contribute to curriculum marketing, events and employer engagement
  • Deliver an average of 3 hours of high‑quality teaching per week
  • Represent the College at internal and external meetings, including occasional evenings/weekends
  • Oversee departmental budgets and ensure effective financial management
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and student success

  • Relevant teaching qualification and subject specialism
  • Significant experience delivering excellent teaching and leading within Further Education
