Job Description:

To provide strategic management to bid teams. Ensuring the bid teams are established to perform and meet the work winning targets. You will also ensure the Company and Corporate governance & procedures are adhered to at all stages of bids.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading and motivating bid teams and individuals
  • Act as a coach, encourage and maintain positivity within the teams
  • Proactive participation and contribution to the Work Winning leadership team
  • Monitor and influence multiple bids concurrently
  • Solve challenging problems and influence others to get excellent results
  • Achieve desired outcomes from individuals and groups not immediately within the work winning team
  • Liase, lead and remove any barriers for other work winning functions to ensure adequate support to successful tenders
  • Engage with the wider operational team to gain buy in before, during and after bidding
  • Liase with Operations and Project Directors to ensure full support of bid development
  • Filter key information to senior team as required to facilitate timely and informed decision making
  • Proactively identify and solve issues within organisation, individual and logistics to facilitate bid process and production
  • Identify what information is needed and seeks out those individuals within the organisation that can contribute to a solution
  • Encourage and harness creative and imaginative proposals from within team encouraging development of the best possible solution
  • Drive, develop and review bid strategies regularly through the bid process
  • Have a solid understanding of contract, technical and pricing processes to allow challenge of proposed strategies
  • Align Bid strategies with sector and organisational aims and aspirations
  • Have a solid understanding of industry processes, able to lead storyboard sessions as required, challenge preconceptions and clear understanding of features and benefits within a submission
  • Drive tender teams to be successful and continually to do better
  • Drive continuous improvement and quality standards within bid submissions
  • Own the tender process and ensure that is adhered to and delivered consistently
  • Review the tender process at internal reviews to ensure it allows creative thinking and improvement
  • Lead individual bids as required while allocating and balancing resources between multiple bids
  • Responsible for recruitment and agency appointments as required
  • Chair bid managers regular meetings
  • Provide line management of bid managers
  • Compile department statistics and managing department budgets as appropriate
  • Support the wider team and collaborate to find successful solutions
  • Responsible for management of team training
  • Report overall bid costs with HO finance team

Requirements:

  • All candidates MUST have working knowledge of the UK Construction Market - Nuclear, Defence, Rail or Highways etc.
  • All candidates MUST have knowledge of relevant procurement legislation
  • All candidates MUST have commercial awareness of different forms of contract, FIDIC, JCT or NEC etc.
  • All candidates MUST have strong presentation and client communication skills
  • All candidates MUST have a minimum of 10 Years Experience working in Strategic Bid Management with a proven track record of successfully winning work and managing teams
  • All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and have the ability to obtain Security Clearance
