The Applications Development Senior Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and manage the accuracy and completeness of intra-day books and records for all wealth management transactions and activities
Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of internal records with external counterparty statements and market data
Develop and implement robust controls and processes to maintain the integrity of intra-day financial data
Act as a subject matter expert for the Financial System of Record, ensuring its accurate functioning for tracking client positions, balances, and transactional activities
Manage and validate data within the SOR, identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain a true and accurate representation of client holdings and financial movements
Collaborate with technology teams to optimize SOR performance, data quality, and reporting capabilities
Manage and monitor intra-day journaling and bookkeeping processes, ensuring all financial transactions are correctly classified, recorded, and posted in a timely manner
Implement and review reconciliation procedures for intra-day entries, identifying and addressing any out-of-balance conditions promptly
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies for all bookkeeping activities
Serve as a primary point of contact and lead across other critical back-office functions, including Corporate Actions, Tax Operations, Settlement, and Custody
Ensure seamless data flow and process alignment between the Financial SOR, books and records, and these interconnected functions to support end-to-end operational efficiency
Proactively identify and resolve interdependencies and issues that impact multiple back-office areas
Monitor operational data flows, identify data quality issues, and drive remediation efforts to ensure high data integrity across back-office systems
Investigate and resolve complex operational breaks and exceptions efficiently, minimizing financial risk and operational impact
Implement preventative measures to reduce future operational errors and improve process reliability
Ensure all back-office operations, particularly related to books and records and FSOR management, comply with relevant financial industry regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements
Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks associated with back-office data and processes
Contribute to the analysis, design, and implementation of new functionalities and enhancements for back-office systems
Proactively identify opportunities for process automation, efficiency gains, and system improvements within the back-office domain
Participate in testing and validation of system changes, ensuring they meet business requirements and operational standards
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
20+ years of experience in back-office operations or technology within the financial services industry, with significant experience in Wealth Management
Demonstrated expertise in intra-day books and records, financial systems of record (FSOR) for positions, balances, and activities, and intra-day journaling and bookkeeping
Experience leading large scale transformation/conversion projects for these domains
Strong understanding of related back-office functions, including corporate actions, tax, settlement, and custody
Experience with major wealth management platforms or back-office processing systems
Proficiency in financial products typical of wealth management (equities, fixed income, mutual funds, alternative investments)
Experience with reconciliation processes and tools
Knowledge of specific regulatory requirements relevant to wealth management back-office operations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and data discrepancies
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure operational environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
Familiarity with SQL for data analysis and querying financial systems
