The individual will serve as the architect and defender of the firm's AI and Digital Assets risk governance frameworks, responsible for policy, regulatory engagement, and control design for these rapidly evolving domains.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and own the firm’s engagement strategy for all AI and Digital Assets regulatory examinations, inquiries, and internal audits, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring timely, comprehensive, and defensible responses
Direct the interpretation and analysis of global regulatory developments across 90+ jurisdictions, translating new laws and supervisory guidance into actionable requirements for the firm
Represent Citi in key industry forums and regulatory policy-making discussions to help shape the future of AI and Digital Assets regulation
Drive the development, authoring, and continuous improvement of Citi's AI and Digital Assets Risk Management Frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures
Ensure all governance documentation is clear, comprehensive, and aligned with enterprise-wide risk management policies
Provide expert policy advice to business lines and control functions to ensure a consistent and effective application of the framework
Design and oversee the implementation of standardized, robust controls tailored for the unique risks of AI and Digital Assets
Provide strategic direction for the independent testing and validation of control effectiveness, manage the remediation of any identified issues, and report on the overall health of the control environment
Conduct thematic reviews to proactively assess control design, identify potential weaknesses, and drive continuous improvement
Provide clear and concise reporting on regulatory matters, policy updates, and control effectiveness to senior governance committees
Build and maintain a robust governance structure that ensures global regulatory expectations are proactively met and managed
Partner closely with the AI and Digital Asset Risk Approvers and Monitoring & Reporting teams to ensure a seamless and integrated approach to risk management
Requirements:
Extensive experience in a large, complex financial institution, regulatory body, or related field
Solid experience in a senior role focused on risk management, compliance, audit, or policy, with direct experience in technology or innovation governance
Expertise in Artificial Intelligence, including the specific risk implications of model fairness, bias, explainability, data privacy, and AI security
A strong understanding of Digital Assets, including the unique risks associated with stablecoins, cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and smart contracts
Extensive, hands-on experience managing complex regulatory exams and inquiries from major global regulators
Proven experience in designing control frameworks and authoring enterprise-level policies and procedures
A principles-based leader with experience providing clear, independent challenge on matters of policy, compliance, and control design
A track record of operating effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments, demonstrating resilience and sound judgment under ambiguity
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a track record of leading collaborative efforts across different business and functional areas
A strategic thinker with a strong execution focus, skilled at translating complex regulatory requirements into practical policies and controls
Bachelor’s degree required
Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Law, Public Policy, Business, Technology) is highly preferred
