As the Head of Active Safety Product, you will define and lead the roadmap for Wayve’s Active Safety product line - the systems and capabilities that enable collision avoidance, risk mitigation, and safety assurance across L2+ and higher levels of autonomy. You will collaborate with engineering, safety, and OEM partners to deliver compliant, high-performance systems that meet evolving market and regulatory requirements. The scope spans from advanced driver assistance (L2+) through higher autonomy levels, ensuring functional continuity, robustness, and compliance as Wayve’s AI driver evolves toward full autonomy. You will lead a team of product experts and work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders - including software, hardware, systems, and business development - to ensure timely, accurate, and validated product releases.
Job Responsibility:
Define and deliver Wayve’s active safety roadmap, building reliable, scalable, and production-ready systems that ensure functional continuity and safety assurance from L2+ assistance to fully autonomous (L4) operation
Translate regulatory and assessment frameworks (GSR, NCAP, etc.) into clear, differentiated product requirements
Partner closely with internal engineering, safety, and systems teams to ensure robust product design, verification, and integration into the broader AI driver stack
Lead OEM and Tier-1 engagement throughout the full lifecycle - from RFQs to production launch - ensuring clear alignment on requirements, deliverables, and timelines
Drive structured decision-making, balancing risk, technical complexity, and time-to-market considerations
Manage and grow a cross-functional team of product and engineering professionals, fostering alignment, accountability, and a high-performance culture
Represent Wayve externally in technical and regulatory discussions related to Active Safety, standards development, and validation approaches
Requirements:
Proven track record of delivering Active Safety or ADAS systems to production with OEMs, including full V-model development through SOP
Demonstrated expertise in managing complex product lifecycles from concept to release
Experience with large-scale validation, fleet learning, or real-world data pipelines for improving active safety performance and reliability
Deep knowledge of automotive safety and regulatory frameworks, including ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO/PAS 21448 (SOTIF), UNECE WP.29, Euro NCAP, and EU GSR II requirements
Strong experience working with OEMs and responding to RFQs, from concept phase through industrialisation
Understanding of L2+, L3, and higher system architectures and configurations
Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing product teams
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate market shifts, regulatory change, and customer needs
Proficiency in tools and methodologies related to product development, roadmapping, and release management
Nice to have:
Experience with AI- or data-driven Active Safety systems, including perception-based decision logic, simulation or virtual testing for safety validation
Familiarity with ADAS and Active Safety system architectures and safety case development
Prior collaboration with Euro NCAP, UNECE, NHTSA, or other regulatory and certification agencies
Experience contributing to industry standards, working groups, or homologation processes related to safety or automation
