We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Head of Academic PE to lead the delivery of Physical Education across the Senior School. The successful candidate will oversee curriculum development, academic standards, and assessment, while teaching high-quality PE lessons that promote physical literacy, healthy lifestyles, and strong student outcomes. Job Responsibility:
Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality PE curricula aligned with Cambridge and whole-school standards
Deliver engaging and well-structured PE lessons that promote physical literacy, fitness, and personal development
Oversee assessment, monitoring, and reporting of student progress, ensuring consistency and academic rigor
Support and mentor PE teachers, promoting strong teaching practice and collaborative professional culture
Work closely with school leadership to develop long-term strategies for academic PE, facilities use, and programme growth
Ensure inclusive teaching practices that support all students, including those with different physical abilities and learning needs
Enhance the school’s co-curricular sports provision through clubs, events, competitions, and enrichment activities
Contribute to the pastoral care of students and promote wellbeing, resilience, and positive attitudes toward physical activity
Requirements:
A recognized teaching qualification
A degree in Physical Education or Sports Science
Strong leadership experience within an academic PE context, preferably in an international school setting
Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for promoting lifelong health, fitness, and physical development
Outstanding organizational, communication, and team-management skills
A positive, forward-thinking approach, with openness to innovation and ongoing professional development
Experience with Cambridge programmes or international curricula (highly desirable)
