Job Description

Bring your talent & passion for gardening to Merivale's growing portfolio of venues across Sydney & surrounds. As our Head Gardener for our Northern Beaches venues, you will be safeguarding the brand's aesthetic vision.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee all horticulture requirements for the Northern Beaches portfolio
  • Collaborate with styling and events to deliver on visions, installation of new venues
  • Lead a team of gardeners at your venues, including all staff recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training
  • Manage the horticulture budget for your venues
  • Accountable for stock and supplies, including management of supplier relationships
  • Accountable for staying abreast of venue styling and layout changes to ensure all employees have a thorough understanding of venue concepts
  • Responsible for accurate and timely upkeep of records for compliance
  • Proactively maintaining all onsite plants, along with pruning, watering, re-potting, mulching and weed control, managing of pest control of plants and application of pesticides or fertiliser

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in the horticulture industry
  • Have strong plant identification skills and detailed knowledge of plants and their culture
  • Experience in landscape design and grounds maintenance
  • Current chemical application accreditation (desirable)
  • Horticulture trade cert or higher (highly regarded)
  • Full driver licence
  • Be truly passionate about plants and gardening
  • Be an inspiring leader
  • Have a keen eye for design/visual styling
  • Be prepared for heavy lifting and manual labour and are comfortable working at heights
