Job Description:

The city of Lowell is seeking candidates for the position of Head Filter Operator in the Water Utility Department. The position reports directly to the Plant Manager, Water Filtration Supervisor & other designated personnel.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operation, lubrication and maintenance of electric water pumps in various locations of the Water Filtration Division
  • Assists in the operation of the filtration plant including the examination, inspections, repair, operation and maintenance of filters, connections, gates, valves, recorders, indicators, etc

Requirements:

  • A current and valid Water Treatment Operators Grade 3 or higher license required
  • Must have complete knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and practices of water treatment

  • Operation, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of air compressors, together with distribution lines and all valves and devices for air control
  • Operation, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of all natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, including all valves and devices for air control
  • Operation, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of water filters, softeners, piping and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution, including all sinks and toilet bowls, including all supply lines, drains, water lines, control devices and sprinkler systems
  • Operation, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of all types of electrical motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors and fans
  • Operate and maintain all data center specific HVAC, and Electrical Systems to include: PDUs, CRAC Units, UPS Modules, Static Transfer Switches, Emergency Generators, Cooling Towers, Fans, Motors, Underfloor LDS, specialized Fire Systems including Fire suppression, and FA monitoring including VESDA
  • Appropriate levels of electrical work including troubleshooting and repair
