Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Head Coach, Men’s Ice Hockey position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI). The Head Coach is responsible for the overall leadership and success of Brown University’s Men’s Ice Hockey varsity athletic program. The Head Coach oversees student-athlete development, fosters a positive and inclusive team culture, and implements effective strategies to compete at the highest NCAA Division 1 level. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring outstanding communication, organization, and mentorship skills, with a clear commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes and the mission of Brown Athletics.
Job Responsibility:
Planning and leading practices and competitions
Recruiting student-athletes who meet both Brown’s academic and athletic standards
Managing scheduling and travel
Monitoring academic progress
Ensuring effective use of the program’s budget and resources
Alumni engagement, fundraising, and community outreach efforts that support the program and the University
Uphold the values of Brown University and the Ivy League, which emphasize academic excellence, student-athlete well-being, and competitive integrity
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and strict adherence to all NCAA, Ivy League, ECAC, and University rules and policies
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Five to seven years coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level required
Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League rules
Demonstrated ability to develop nationally competitive athletes
Demonstrated academic success of previously coached student-athletes
Exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations
Commitment to the student-athlete and the ability to coach and motivate
Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
Strong organizational

The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV checks satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations
Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification
All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown
