Job Description

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Head Coach, Men’s Ice Hockey position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI). The Head Coach is responsible for the overall leadership and success of Brown University’s Men’s Ice Hockey varsity athletic program. The Head Coach oversees student-athlete development, fosters a positive and inclusive team culture, and implements effective strategies to compete at the highest NCAA Division 1 level. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring outstanding communication, organization, and mentorship skills, with a clear commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes and the mission of Brown Athletics.

Job Responsibility

  • Planning and leading practices and competitions
  • Recruiting student-athletes who meet both Brown’s academic and athletic standards

  • Ensuring effective use of the program’s budget and resources
  • Alumni engagement, fundraising, and community outreach efforts that support the program and the University

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Five to seven years coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level required
  • Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League rules
  • Demonstrated ability to develop nationally competitive athletes
  • Demonstrated academic success of previously coached student-athletes
  • Exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations
  • Commitment to the student-athlete and the ability to coach and motivate
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment

  • Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification
