Job Description

As a Hatchery Technician, you will assist with daily hatchery operations, including fish care, water quality monitoring, equipment checks, data collection, record keeping, and maintaining high standards for safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare.

Job Responsibility

  • Feeding and monitoring fish health, behaviour, and condition
  • Cleaning and disinfecting tanks, equipment, and work areas
  • Monitoring and recording water quality and production data
  • Assisting with sampling, grading, counting, and fish transfers
  • Supporting basic equipment checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Following all safety, biosecurity, animal welfare, and operating procedures

Requirements

  • Education or experience in aquaculture, biology, animal science, environmental science, or a related field
  • Strong observation, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Basic computer skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Well-developed English verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg and complete repetitive tasks
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices and animal welfare
  • Willingness to participate in Mowi’s development and training opportunities
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a team environment
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada
