Job Description:

We are looking for Harvest Assistants to work with us from July through to September, at our Throws Farm Site, located in Dunmow. The successful candidates will play a key role in our R&D department by assisting with field trials, harvest, and grain analysis. This is a great opportunity for those studying towards an agricultural degree or related subject to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and innovative company. Likewise, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain professional experience in the Agriculture sector. Please note: This role comes with significant manual handling and physical labour.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with all aspects of field trials as part of the R&D team, including crop assessments, seed preparation, and trial harvest
  • Conduct crop assessments, including measuring crop heights, counting ear numbers, and calculating plot areas
  • Assist with trial harvest as part of a combining team, supporting the combine driver by taking samples of grain and returning these for analysis back at Throws Farm

Requirements:

  • Full driving licence preferred but not essential
  • Reliable
  • Self-motivated
  • Passionate about agriculture
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to follow methods & SOPs accurately
  • Ability to work safely
  • Ability to work irregular hours, days, evenings, and sometimes weekends
