Job Description

As an Hardware Engineer at Meta, you will design, build, and test prototype systems for future consumer experiences within Meta’s Product Portfolio. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will work cross-functionally with teams that will dynamically change depending on the problem and potentially include electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware, software. We want people who work well in teams, can take a broad definition and implement electrical system development, and can transition these designs into high-volume consumer products.

Job Responsibility

  • Key contributor to updates, modifications, testing, and delivery of form factor integration within new or existing systems
  • Drive electrical hardware and technology teams through phases of engineering design, development, and validation to bring complex Wearable products to mass production
  • Provide technical ownership and guidance to make crucial electrical hardware product decisions
  • Work on all aspects of system engineering from initial definition of requirements and specifications, identification of risk, opportunities, and tradeoffs through to the decision processes, implementation, and risk mitigation
  • Develop processes and checklists to ensure comprehensive documentation, cross-functional alignment, and execution at all stages of product development, requirements flow, verification and validation, and interaction between various subsystems
  • Empower cross functional collaboration, lead the team through an efficient and holistic approach to decision making and integration of innovative solutions
  • Plan and drive verification and validation strategies to ensure that hardware systems meet the specified requirements and function correctly in the intended environment, in collaboration with cross functional teams
  • Manage data driven methods for developing system requirements and verification related deliverables, such as specifications, design criteria, system descriptions, and verification tracking
  • Effective communication and documentation skills are essential, as you will need to collaborate with several teams, develop documentation, and debug complex systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Automation Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 8+ years of experience in system architecture design, system integrated hardware development, system electrical design lead, with a proven track record of successfully delivering products to market
  • Experience managing urgent projects through to completion while balancing evolving priorities and a range of stakeholders
  • Proven technical proficiency in one or more of the following hardware disciplines: system engineering in electrical and mechanical, critical sub-systems including display, cameras, sensors in smart wearable products
  • Solid leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional technology teams through personal accountability and influence
  • Analytical skills. Capacity to drive and triage testing, debugging, and root cause analysis for Hardware blocks
  • Proven track record conveying complex technical concepts and drive alignment on product requirements and architecture, both within and across organizational levels

Nice to have

  • Track record of shipping high volume products to market
  • Previous consumer electronics experience
  • Experience with both Electrical and Mechanical system development
  • Experience with EMI and ESD risks and mitigation techniques
  • Experience with analog/mixed signal IC design, fabrication, and validation process
  • Experience designing for HDI rigid PCB and HDI FPC for high volume cost optimized applications
